Household Chemical Pick Up Service
Do you have some old chemicals down in the back shed that you would like to get rid of? Call Council's Health Services on 9273 3500 and an Environmental Health Officer will arrange for their pick up so that they can be safely disposed of.
PLEASE CALL TO ARRANGE PICKUP. DO NOT BRING CHEMICALS TO THE COUNCIL OFFICES OR DEPOT.
Household chemicals such as:
- House hold products marked as poisons
- Pesticides
- Cleaning solvents
- Pool chemicals
- Herbicides
- Old chemistry sets
- Photography chemicals
- Acids
- Alkalis
- Oil
You will need to:
- Keep the chemical in the original container with the label intact
- Each container is to be individually wrapped and sealed in clear plastic bag so that the label can be easily seen without removing the bag.
- Contact Council's Health Services to have these chemicals collected.
Council officers will organise for the safe disposal of the chemicals.
***We will not collect, paint, gas cylinders, radioactive materials or commercial quantities of waste.***

Disposal of Paint
Paint quantities greater than 1 litre and in their original container can be disposed of by delivery to the City of Stirling, Waste Transfer Station Balcatta Rd Balcatta. These paints are reused and onsold to consumers.
Smaller quantities of paint can be disposed of using the following method. Remove the lid and allow the remaining contents to dry out, or pour the contents into a flat shallow tray. When dry remove the paint 'plug' and place into the rubbish bin. The paint tin should be placed in your recycling bin.
Disposal of Gas Cylinders
Unserviceable cylinders (over 10 years old) may be returned to Kleenheat Gas, 276 Leach Highway, Myaree, for degassing and disposal.
Disposal of Radioactive Materials
For waste including radioactive materials (i.e. old smoke alarms and exit signs), contact the Radiation Health Branch of the Department of Health on (08) 9388 4999.
Disposal of Commercial Quantities of Waste
For waste generated in the course of business contact the Department of Environmental Protection, Waste Management Division, for further advice on the possibility of recycling your waste via the "Waste Line" on (08) 9222 7000.
