This plan addresses all 5 strategic goals enunciated by the State Community Safety and Crime Prevention Strategy.
The 5 strategic goals are:
- Goal 1 - Supporting families, children and young people
- Goal 2 - Empowering communities and regenerating neighbourhoods
- Goal 3 - Identifying and tackling priority offences in Western Australia
- Goal 4 - Reducing repeat offending
- Goal 5 - Designing out crime and using technology.

Safer Nedlands Programs
The City of Nedlands coordinates a range of community safety and crime deterrent programs in your local area. Check out the following information and contact the City at 9273 3500 or council@nedlands.wa.gov.au for more information or to receive a crime deterrent information pack.
Neighbourhood Watch
This is now a simpler program that gives you helpful information on home security, getting to know your neighbours and contacting the Police. You don't have to attend any meetings or commit any time, just put these simple practices in place around your home. Call now for crime deterrent stickers and tips.
Operation Identification
Borrow an electric engraver free of charge from Nedlands or Mt Claremont Libraries and engrave the valuables in your home to deter theft and assist the Police to return them if lost of stolen.
Safer Seniors
Visit the WA Police Service website Safety for Seniors for tips on home and personal safety. The City conducts Seniors Safety Sessions where you can meet your local WA Police Crime Prevention Officers.

Call now and arrange a visit from the local WA Police Crime Prevention Officers who will give impartial home or business security advice at no cost. Call 9273 3500 or
e-mail council@nedlands.wa.gov.au attention to the Community Development Officer (Community Safety and Access) to arrange a visit.
