The City of Nedlands Access Working Group
The Access Working Group was established in 2001 to provide advice to the Chief Executive Officer on access and disability related issues in order to improve the accessibility and inclusiveness of the local community.
Membership now includes 6 representatives from the community and two staff members: Manager Community Development and Community Development Officer (Community Safety and Access).
The Working Group meets quarterly.

Robyn Tsapazi is a paraprofessional sign language interpreter and is Coordinator of Deaf Interpreting Service at the WA Deaf Society. Robyn is an inaugural member of the City of Nedlands Access Working Group and brings her knowledge of deafness and interpreting to the group.
Greg has been president of Blind Citizens WA for the past 7 years and during that time has represented people who are blind and vision impaired on a wide range of local, state and national committees dealing with access issues for people with disabilities. Greg was on the Department for Planning and Infrastructure Consumer Advisory Council for 5 years and a director of Blind Citizens Australia for 3 years. Chairing many committees which dealt with access barriers for people with a disability, Greg has accumulated a sound knowledge of the issues. Greg has built a strong network of contacts within the disability field at state, national and international level.

Violet has been working with Disability Services Commission as a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) in the metropolitan area for 8 years. The LAC for Nedlands, Subiaco and Shenton Park works with approximately 60 people with disabilities. Local Area Coordinators in the metropolitan area work with people who have physical, sensory, neurological, cognitive and /or intellectual disability who are under the age of 60 at the time they apply for LAC support.
Violet is looking forward to working together with individuals and families in the City of Nedlands to create a welcoming and supportive community.
For over 20 years Brian has worked in community based organisations promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in their community. This has involved supporting people with their advocacy issues and assisting individuals to achieve their employment aspirations. Recently, Brian has worked with families experiencing financial disadvantage who are committed to ensuring that their children receive a fair go in education
Janet Shaw is a Nedlands resident and has much experience in access issues for people with disabilities. Having lived with a vision impairment all of her life, Janet has come across many access issues in the community for people with little or no sight. Janet is a qualified social worker, and has worked in the areas of disability and advocacy. She also sits on committees that address access and advocacy issues.
Now retired, Eric formerly worked as a psychologist in the education and training field. For many years he was involved in the counseling of adult students in colleges, the delivery of assessment and selection services for employers in metropolitan and country locations in WA and, more recently, the provision of appropriate support services for international students. Currently, he is Chairman of the Board of Management of Centacare Employment and Training in WA.
Eric is a founding member of the Subiaco and Western Suburbs Independent Housing Group, and is active in seeking suitable affordable housing for people with disabilities who wish to live as independently as possible.
