Holiday activities for school aged children are included in the Tresillian Community Centre program. Fun classes are held on a variety of subjects that change each holiday. Classes range from Cartooning to Australian Bushland Pottery, from Fishing to Little Gypsies.
The Nedlands Library Service holds programs for older kids during the school holidays. For a copy of the program see News & Events on the Nedlands Library page.
- Membership of the Nedlands Library Service is free and available to anyone (even babies!)
- You can become a member of the Nedlands Library Service by filling in a form and showing ID with your current address on it eg: rates notice, drivers' licence, gas bill.
- You can get a card for any children under 16 years of age in your care by signing as their guarantor.
- Each card lets you take out eight (8) items from our collection of books (in print and on tape/CD), videos, DVDs, magazines and music CDs. If we don't have it, we will try to get it for you from the resources of the State Library network.
- Membership of the Nedlands and Mt Claremont Libraries automatically entitles you to borrow from Claremont, Cottesloe and Subiaco Libraries as well.
Storytime for pre-schoolers (aged 0 - 5 years) are held weekly year-round at both the Nedlands and Mt Claremont Libraries.
Thursdays at Mt Claremont 10.30am - 11.00am
Fridays at Nedlands 10.30am - 11.00am
Each session is a mixture of stories (read and told), songs, rhymes, simple games and puppets. There is usually a simple craft activity to end with.
All are age appropriate and a wonderful introduction to story in all its forms. It's a great boost to early pre-reading skillsand it's fun!
No bookings are required - please just come along. It's a great way to meet new friends if you have recently moved to Nedlands.
Programs are held for the older kids in the school holidays. These are usually advertised in flyers and displays in the library, the Post newspaper and the library newsletter.
Some recent programs have been:
- A Magician's performance
- Writing workshops
- Hands-on book making
For some of these sessions, there may be a small fee.
For more information or specific advice about your child's reading, please contact the Young People's Services Librarian who is available on Wednesday and Friday at Nedlands Library on 9273 3644 or Thursday at Mt Claremont Library on 9383 1462.
