For your green waste verge collections, small waste such as leaves, lawn and shrub clippings and twigs must be in specific green waste bags which can only be purchased from Council Administration for $3.20. Green waste in any other type of bags or boxes will not be collected.
Bulk Rubbish Collection Dates for 2008-2009
Green waste and hard waste must be kept separate to avoid contamination.
Green Waste Bags
Green waste that is put in plastic bags or cardboard boxes is not accepted at the mulching

facility, and is landfilled. Landfilling of green waste is undesirable, as it is costly and can result in the production of methane (a greenhouse gas) and environmentally damaging leachates. Council prefers to have the green waste chipped for mulch and reused.
To reduce the amount of waste going to landfill, Council has introduced specially designed green waste bags, which are reusable and conform with the Mulching contractors requirements.
The green waste bags are available from the Council Administration Office at 71 Stirling Highway, Nedlands between the hours of 8.30am to 5.00pm for $3.20 each.
The green waste bags have a 100 litre capacity and have a strong woven construction with a large opening and handles for easy use and transportation. At the time of your green waste collection, the contractor will empty the bag and return it to your property.
There is no restriction to the number of bags purchased as long as the total amount of green waste placed on the verge for collection doesn't exceed 6 cubic metres (as per the bulk rubbish collection conditions).
| Please purchase your green waste bags prior to the next green waste bulk collection (refer to the Bulk Rubbish Collection Dates brochure) as loose leaves, lawn clippings, etc must not be put in plastic bags or cardboard boxes. |
