Roland Leach Poetry Prize is open to young poets resident in Western Australia.
If you are an aspiring poet, this competition is a great opportunity to have your work heard.
Categories are:
Category A: Middle Primary - years 3, 4 and 5
Category B: Upper Primary - years 6 and 7
Category C: Middle School - years 8, 9 and 10
Category D: Senior School - years 11 and 12
Category E: 18 - 25 years of age
2009 Roland Leach Poetry Prize Winners

Thank you to all who entered the Roland Leach Poetry Prize Competition this year. We had over 400 entries from more than 40 schools across the state.
Congratulations to the winners! Your poems will be displayed at the Nedlands Library until the end of the year, and are also published below:
Category A: Middle Primary - 1st prize 2nd prize 3rd prize Highly Commended
Category B: Upper Primary - 1st prize 2nd prize 3rd prize Highly Commended
Category C: Middle School - 1st prize 2nd prize 3rd prize Highly Commended
Category D: Senior School - 1st prize 2nd prize 3rd prize Highly Commended
Category E: Participant’s Achievement prize
Special congratulations to the Overall Winner of the 2009 Roland Leach Poetry Prize, Gemma Jongeling of St Mary’s Anglican Girl’s School for her poem “Soul Sounds”.
The winner of the Most Enthusiastic School was Helena Valley Primary School, with 54 entries in the competition.
There were two winners of the Most Poetic School prize this year – Applecross Senior High School and Spencer Park Primary School, who each had two winning entries in the competition.
