City Of Nedlands - Access Action! Awards

ACCESS ACTION! AWARDS 2007

The City of Nedlands Access Action! Awards are designed to:

  • raise awareness of the importance of creating an accessible and inclusive community and
  • recognise the efforts of those who are taking steps to "make a difference" for people with disabilities, their families, carers and friends.

A Poem by J. Lee Miller copyright 2007

You know those roles
That you think are great?
And the people from whom
Great info you take?

If located in
Or benefits those
Within Nedlands City
Take time to suppose...
And what about
The organisations
That bring some life
And warm sensations?

What it would mean to them
That you took the time
To recognise their efforts
And their acts that are kind
In particular
All of the above
That treat our disabled
With all sorts of love

Consider also that others
Will benefit as well
Award nominations
Are a great way to tell...
An individual
Or perhaps a course
Or disabled riding
On a friendly horse

That something exists
That might really help
Fellow friends and the neighbours
With the cards they've been dealt
Access to buildings
Or access to knowledge
Support for learning
Or access to college

So look around
Be our eyes and ears
And contact the council
With your great ideas!
Of these, and more
We'd like to hear
Let them, and us
Know that you care
P.S.
Please nominate...
And recognise
Those who deserve
An Access prize

The following are a copy of the guidelines and nomination forms or the 2007 Awards.  A call for nominations for the 2008 awards will be made in early 2008.
