Budget Highlights 2011-12

• Blackspot projects at Stirling Highway (Broadway and Hampden Road) and Bruce Street and Elizabeth   Street
• Upgrades to Alfred Road and Archdeacon Street
• Footpath rehabilitation at Hooley Street and Beatrice Road
• $722 000 allocated to stages one and two retaining wall work at Beecham Road
• A new accessible playground installed at Melvista Park
• $298 400 towards upgrades in irrigation systems with hydro zoning
• $3 260 500 building program
• $3 126 900 roads and traffic management
• $562 800 parks and reserves upgrades and equipment
• $500 000 river wall repairs
• $250 000 drainage
• $187 600 footpaths and parking
• $175 000 natural areas paths maintenance.

Sustainable initiatives include:

• $100 000 for solar panels on City buildings
• new initiative to recycle all plastics with plastic recycling codes in the recycling bin
• biodegradable dog waste bags
• asbestos survey of laneways and Allen Park heritage precinct
• greening along the Railway Reserve
• walking trail repairs in Allen Park and Hollywood Reserve.
