All Abilities Play Space

Construction to begin

The City will soon begin construction of Stage 1 of the All Abilities Play Space on Beaton Park as envisioned by Rotary. Stage 1 will include much of the play equipment, part of the carpark and the utility upgrade (power and sewage). The City apologises for any inconvenience the works may cause and looks forward to the completion of this unique facility.

About the All Abilities Play Space

The All Abilities Play Space is a big project, based on a big idea: to bring inclusive play to the whole of Perth.

It will be a large-scale, innovative, state-of-the-art play facility that has been purpose-designed to meet everyone’s needs, regardless of their age or ability.

Research shows that play is important for everyone, helping to build physical, psychological and social health. Play strengthens our abilities, develops our skills and brings us together. While play is vital for children, it is also important for teenagers, adults and seniors too.

The All Abilities Play Space will be located on Beaton Park on the Nedlands foreshore of the beautiful Swan River. This stunning site will welcome families from throughout Perth, in a statement of inclusion.

The Play Space has been designed by award winning landscape architect, Fiona Robbé.  Fiona is also part of an international group developing standards for inclusive playgrounds.

This project would not be possible without the Rotary Clubs of Nedlands, Subiaco, West Perth and Matilda Bay, Inclusion WA, Lotterywest, Wood and Grieves Engineers and Australia’s Bridge.
