Freeman of the City - Nomination Guidelines

The City of Nedlands Freeman of the City Award recognises the outstanding achievements and dedicated service to the community by a person over their lifetime. The Freeman of the City Award is the highest honour that the City of Nedlands can give to a community member.

Selection criteria
To be eligible for nomination, a person does not have to currently reside within the City or have served on Council.

Nominees will be assessed on their record of service to the local and broader community against the following criteria:

1. Length of service in a field (or fields)of activity;
2. Level of commitment to the field (or fields) of activity;
3. Personal leadership qualities;
4. Benefits to the community of the City of Nedlands but including more broadly to the state of Western Australia or to the nation resulting from the nominee’s work; and
5. Special achievements of the nominee.

Exclusions

1. Employees of the City of Nedlands are not eligible to be nominated. 
2. Nominators must declare any relationship between the nominee, a Councillor or a member of Council’s staff.
