Justice of the Peace

Justices of the Peace (JPs) volunteer their services to provide an integral link in the judicial system. Justices of the Peace are appointed by the Governor to perform official administrative and judicial duties within the community.

Justices of the Peace are regularly called upon by the Police to sign search warrants and authorise the issuing of summonses. Their administrative tasks include witnessing affidavits and documents such as wills and statutory declarations.

A Justice of the Peace is available at Nedlands Library, Thursday from 2.00 pm to 4 pm to witness and attest documents, certify copies of original documents, witness signing of documents such as Power of Attorney or Guardianship documents and divorce papers.
