Swimming Pools - Approval to Construct

Swimming Pools – Approval to Construct

There are two ways an application for a swimming pool can be submitted to the City for approval.

Certified

  • Plans and documents for the proposed swimming pool are supplied to an independent, registered Building Surveying Contractor.
  • A Certificate of Design Compliance (CDC) is produced and signed by the Building Surveying Contractor.
  • An application form (BA1) is completed and signed by the applicant, builder and owner.
  • The Application form along with the following is submitted to the City;
  1. CDC (2 copies of)
  2. All plans and documents listed on the CDC (2 copies of)
  3. Fees as applicable to the application
  4. Bonds as applicable to the application
(See checklist in downloads below for required documents and plans)

A complete application will be assessed and a Building Permit will be issued within 10 working days (commencing the day after receipt). If the application is incomplete, an official request for further information will be sent to the applicant.

Uncertified

  • An application form (BA2) is completed and signed by the applicant, builder and owner.
  • The Application form along with plans and documents for the proposed swimming pool are submitted to the City. (see checklist in downloads below for required documents and plans)
  • Applicable fees and bonds are paid to the City.

A complete application will be assessed and a CDC and Building Permit will be issued within 25 working days (commencing the day after receipt). If the application is incomplete, an official request for further information will be sent to the applicant.

Please be aware, if piling/grout injection work is being undertaken as part of the swimming pool installation there are two options relating to the building permit for this work:

  • The pool company can take responsibility for the grout injection work (even if it is being carried out by a separate contractor) and all details relating to the grout injection must be supplied as part of the pool application;  OR
  • A separate contractor takes full responsibility for the work and a separate building permit application must be submitted for this work; the swimming pool application will not be issued until this application is received and approved.
