Biography

Cilla is personable, professional and hardworking with 25 years of public policy experience in planning and infrastructure at all levels of government across Australia.  Experience to drive the protection of Nedlands’ character, create thriving local centres, prioritise sport, recreation and cultural services, and strategically manage our assets and finances to reduce rate rises.

Passionate about tackling challenges, embracing opportunities and charting a future for our City, Cilla is committed to open and accountable government that engages effectively with the people of our community-minded City.  Previously leading a community campaign that successfully lobbied government for underground power in West Hollywood at a fair price, Cilla understands how to negotiate with government and empower communities to partner with government to solve complex problems.

Cilla is a full-time Mayor, with previous experience at a state and national level in urban water strategy and policy, and at a state level in transport policy, land use planning, sustainability and environmental impact assessment.  A Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Cilla champions good governance, systems leadership, strategic thinking, effective risk management and informed decision-making.  A member of Westcycle’s Transport, Safety and Advocacy Advisory Group, former member of Hollywood Primary School Board and with children who play tennis and hockey locally, Cilla is passionate about public health, education, active transport, sport and recreation.

An advocate of good design and environmentally sensitive development, Cilla and her husband built an architect designed sustainable home in Nedlands in 2007.  Early adopters of rooftop solar and former runners up of Nedlands Waterwise Garden competition, Cilla’s family love their home and community-minded street.
