Emerge Art Awards Exhibition a boost for young talent Entries close 26 June

According to Jo Darvall, accomplished artist and judge of the City of Nedlands’ 2021 Emerge Youth Art Awards Exhibition, having the opportunity to show your work in a public gallery is an amazing opportunity for young emerging artists.

Ms Darvall, who will join fellow judges Stephen Castledine and Gordon Mitchell in the unenviable task of choosing the winners, says the exhibition will be a first for most entrants but of immense value to everyone in the competition.

“Opportunities like this are hard to find, and young artists should embrace the opportunity to meet a whole new community.

“This exhibition will help to validate their efforts and confirm their intentions as artists - and even open their minds to new ideas and new ways of thinking,” Ms Darvall said.

Artists wanting to take part in the Emerge Art Awards Exhibition must complete an entry form as soon as possible and have their work completed by Saturday 26 June, 2021.

Artists aged 12-25 years can enter, with a chance to win one of five prizes from a pool of $2,250.  Works can include print, photography, painting or sculpture.

“I think these Awards will help the process of legitimising young people in the Western Australian art scene, giving them a voice and bringing them together with other like-minded people,” Ms Darvall said.
