Pets at the Park 2017

Pets at the Park – a fun day out for the fur family

All pets great and small are invited to put their best paw forward at the Pets at the Park event.

Pets at the Park is a fun day out for the fur family, with a pet show, stalls, agility and training demonstrations and kids’ activities to keep everyone entertained.

Town of Claremont Mayor Jock Barker said Pets at the Park provided the community with an opportunity to bring the furry family members to an event.

“Our rangers enjoy organising this event with the City of Nedlands to celebrate the joys of owning a pet,” Mayor Barker said.

“The Pet Show is always an event highlight, with great prizes for Fluffiest Pet, Most Like Their Owner and Best Trick.”

The event is jointly funded by Town of Claremont, City of Nedlands and Delicate Care, with the participation of Swanbourne Veterinary Centre, other local vet clinics and rangers from Nedlands, Claremont, Cottesloe and Mosman Park.

City of Nedlands Mayor Max Hipkins said Pets at the Park was a good opportunity for owners to take advantage of free vet advice and discounted microchipping.

“Owners are reminded it is important to microchip and register both dogs and cats with their council,” he said.

“This is beneficial to their health and helps rangers return them home should they go missing.”

Rangers will be scanning for microchips on the day and updating registrations details in Council databases.

The aim of the event is to encourage responsible pet ownership, from using designated dog exercise areas and picking up after pets through to caring for their health. 2

A range of stalls will be set up for the day, offering services such as pet food, pet minding, dog obedience, dog washing, animal photography, pet tag engraving and pet products.

There will also be a sausage sizzle, ice cream van and coffee for the not-so-furry, two-legged creatures.

All dogs attending the event must be on leads and cats must be in cages.
