Positive Ageing Program

The Positive Ageing program connects community members aged 55+ through a range of inclusive activities and events. Established more than ten years ago, the program was created to support seniors who were not eligible for government‑funded services, experienced social isolation, or preferred to participate in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment.

In late 2013, the Affinity Club was introduced as the activity‑focused arm of the program, providing access to a wide variety of experiences through a membership model.

Today, the Positive Ageing program remains an important and evolving part of the community. In 2024, the program was refreshed with new and updated activities that reflect the changing interests and needs of seniors. There is no program membership fee, and activities are delivered through a mix of dedicated volunteers and professional facilitators.

This flexible approach makes it easier for seniors to access activities, choose experiences that suit their interests, and build meaningful connections with others in the community. Whether you’re a long‑time participant or joining for the first time, everyone is welcome to get involved and enjoy what the Positive Ageing program has to offer.

Monthly Activity Calendar

Activities are open to all City of Nedlands residents aged 55+ and are held at a range of venues across the City. Locations include Dalkeith Hall, Mt Claremont Community Centre, and various parks and reserves (weather permitting).

Nedlands Community Care Closure

The City of Nedlands made the difficult decision to cease Nedlands Community Care services on December 31 2023 due to declining client referrals, an increasingly competitive aged care environment and anticipated future sector reform.

Nedlands Community Care (NCC) has been your local trusted home support provider for more than 35 years. Funded by the Commonwealth Government Home Support Program (CHSP) and the City of Nedlands, NCC supported services needed to allow senior residents in the community to continue living safely in their own homes.

The Commonwealth Home Support Program allowed NCC to provide both in-home support activities and group social support services through the City’s Waratah Social Club.

Seniors seeking funded home support services, including Commonwealth Home Support Programme services, can contact My Aged Care for assistance with finding a provider by going to the My Aged Care website at www.myagedcare.gov.au or phoning the My Aged Care Contact Centre on 1800 200 422.
