Tackers Level 2 – Tricks and techniques at Nedlands Yacht Club

Building confidence and skills on the water

Ready to take the next step in your sailing journey? The Tackers Level 2 – Tricks and Techniques program is designed for kids aged 7–12 who have completed Tackers 1 and are keen to build on their skills in a fun, safe, and supportive environment.

Led by Australian Sailing qualified instructors, this course deepens participants’ understanding of sailing techniques and introduces new skills such as:

• Getting out of irons independently

• Safely gybing the boat

• Using the tiller extension correctly

• Sailing a triangle course (upwind, downwind, and reaching)

• Performing 360° and 720° turns

As always, the focus is on learning through play, with plenty of time on the water and games on the beach to keep things engaging and enjoyable.

Course Details:

• Age Group: 7–12 years

• Prerequisites: Water confidence and completion of Tackers 1

• Equipment Provided: Boats, life jackets (PFDs), and all sailing gear

• What to Bring: Sailing clothes and a snack for morning tea.

Course Outcome: By the end of the course, participants will have improved their sailing technique and confidence, and will receive their Tackers 2 Completion Certificate.
