The City of Nedlands is pleased to announce that Scheme Amendment 13 to Local Planning Scheme No. 3 has been approved by the Minister for Planning.
Amendment 13 implements key recommendations of the Nedlands Stirling Highway Activity Corridor Strategy and provides a clear and contemporary planning framework for development along Stirling Highway.
The amendment introduces updated zoning and built-form controls for key sites along the corridor, helping to guide future development in a way that balances growth with amenity and character.
Key outcomes of Amendment 13 include:
- New requirements for tree planting along Stirling Highway to enhance the streetscape;
- Setback provisions that support the creation of rear laneways and reduce direct vehicle access onto Stirling Highway;
- Measures to ensure new development maintains appropriate solar access to neighbouring properties; and
- Rezoning of selected lots to Residential and Neighbourhood Centre to better reflect their intended function within the corridor.
Together, these changes will support a greener, safer and more coordinated Stirling Highway precinct, while providing greater certainty for landowners, residents and investors.
The amendment was gazetted on 20 February 2026 and is now in effect. Local Planning Scheme No. 3 can be viewed here and the government gazette can be found here.
The City thanks community members and stakeholders who contributed to the process and looks forward to seeing the Stirling Highway corridor evolve in line with the new scheme provisions.
