Treebate program

Launched in January 2025, Treebate offers a cash rebate of up to $150 to encourage residents to plant native trees on their properties. The program is part of a $6.9 million investment in urban greening and will run for four years from 28 July 2025.

Eligibility

  • WA residents aged 18 and over
  • Tree must be native to Australia and reach at least 3 metres in canopy height at maturity
  • One claim per person over the life of the program.

Rebate Details

  • Rebate is equal to the purchase price, capped at $150
  • Up to 10,000 rebates available annually
  • No household limit—each eligible person can claim individually.

Claim Requirements

  • Tree must be purchased on or after 28 July 2025
  • Required documents:
    • Itemised tax invoice (not handwritten)
    • Photo of plant label showing the tree’s name
  • Purchases from private sellers (e.g., Gumtree, Facebook Marketplace) are not eligible.

Claim Process

Preferred: via the ServiceWA app (requires DigitalID)

Alternative: paper claim form with 100 points of ID< submitted to Waivpay Limited

Payment Timeline

  • ServiceWA claims: Approx. 7 business days
  • Paper claims: Up to 30 days

WA Tree Recovery Program

This program supports residents affected by the removal of trees due to the Polyphagous shot-hole borer (PSHB) infestation. Eligible residents can claim a $150 rebate for replacing trees removed under the authority of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD).

Eligibility

Residents who had trees removed by DPIRD due to PSHB infestation, on or after 18 November 2021. 

Rebate

Up to $150 per replacement tree.  Replacement trees must not be susceptible to PSHB, or classified as weeds or pests.

Application

Claims can be submitted via the ServiceWA app, postal form or webform. 

Program Duration

Open until late 2028.
