West Melvista Parking Precinct | Community Consultation

Published on Friday, 28 November 2025 at 4:38:58 PM

The City of Nedlands is inviting residents to have their say on the future of parking arrangements in the West Melvista Parking Precinct.

Why are we consulting?

Temporary parking restrictions were introduced in 2023 to manage increased demand during construction of The Melvista Nedlands aged care development on Betty Street and Doonan Road. These changes included timed parking and “No Parking” zones across several streets to reduce congestion and maintain access for residents, visitors, and local sporting clubs.

With construction now complete, Council is reviewing whether these temporary restrictions should remain or revert to the original conditions. Your feedback will help determine the most appropriate long-term parking solution for the precinct.

What are the options?

Residents are asked to choose between:

  • Option 1: Revert to the original parking conditions
  • Option 2: Keep the current parking conditions

Why your input matters

Parking is a shared community resource that requires careful management to ensure:

  • Road safety for all users
  • Efficient traffic flow
  • Fair access for residents, visitors, and local clubs

This consultation is part of the City’s broader commitment to review and update parking controls as land uses change.

How to participate

  1. Review the FORMER and CURRENT Parking Restrictions maps (available under the ‘Documents’ section on the Your Voice Nedlands consultation page).
  2. Complete the short survey by selecting your preferred option.

Consultation closes: Friday 19 December 2025
