The City of Nedlands is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Paul Martin as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Martin joins the City following seven years as Chief Executive Officer of the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale. He brings more than 20 years of senior local government experience, with a strong track record in strategic leadership and organisational improvement.

His appointment marks an important step for the City as Council continues its focus on strengthening governance, improving financial sustainability and delivering high-quality services to the community.

One of Mr Martin's core priorities will be continued implementation of the City of Nedland’s improvement plan. A key initiative of this plan is the City finance and cost management project, which focuses on strengthening the long-term financial sustainability of the City of Nedlands.

Prior to leading the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, Mr Martin served as Chief Executive Officer of the Shire of York and the Town of Port Hedland and previously held the role of Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the Shire of Broome.

His extensive experience across a range of local governments positions him well to lead the City's administration and support Council in delivering effective, accountable and financially responsible local government.

City of Nedlands Mayor Leonie Browner welcomed Mr Martin's appointment.

"Council is pleased to welcome Mr Martin to the City of Nedlands," Mayor Browner said.

"Mr Martin is a highly respected local government leader with extensive experience in organisational leadership, financial management and good governance. Council is confident that he will provide the strong administrative leadership needed to strengthen the City's performance and deliver positive outcomes for our residents."

“This appointment also marks the upcoming departure of our Interim CEO, Mr Arthur Kyron. It will be with genuine regret that we farewell Arthur, who has led the organisation since October last year. He has played a pivotal role in stabilising the City, developing and implementing our improvement program, and supporting elected members as we transitioned into office. On behalf of the City of Nedlands, I thank Arthur for his leadership, wisdom and guidance.”

Mr Martin’s five-year term at the City of Nedlands will commence on 24 August 2026.
