Councillor Coghlan was first elected to represent the Melvista Ward in 2019.
She served as a member of the Audit and Risk Committee, the Metro Inner Development Assessment Panel, and served as the WALGA Central Metropolitan Zone representative.
In 2024, Councillor Coghlan supported the appointment of an Independent Accountant to assist Council in better understanding its financial situation.
