Rebecca Coghlan

Term: Term ends 21 October 2023

Bulimba Road, Nedlands WA 6009

Rebecca has been a resident of Nedlands for 56 years and bring insight, enthusiasm and energy to the role of councillor.

In 1978 Rebecca was a member of the committee which founded Tresillian Arts Centre. Originally the centre came from a community base supporting residents and ratepayers who wanted to learn new skills. Most courses were voluntary, and people did crèche duty to facilitate the grass roots nature of the courses at the time.

Rebecca has good knowledge of the various issues affecting residents. The newly gazetted Local Planning Scheme 3 has necessitated a strong focus on planning issues as Melvista Ward, in particular, has undergone a lot of rapid changes in the up coded areas.

Maintaining the trust that residents have in Council decision-making is vital. Rebecca will strive to facilitate a partnership approach between the Council and residents.

Regular two-way communication that consistently places the needs of residents at the forefront of decision-making will enhance the validity of outcomes.

Efficiency in the way the City conducts it business remains as important as ever as we write new and upgrade existing policies and plans. Representing all age groups, especially families, is important to me.

Rebecca is hardworking and available to work on your behalf.

Married to Peter for 46 years. Rebecca and Peter have four children and nine grandchildren.  Rebecca will constantly work to keep the City of Nedlands a very appealing and special place in which to live.
