Swanbourne is set to come alive on Sunday 16th November, as neighbours open their driveways, front yards, and verges for the first-ever Swanbourne Community Garage Sale, a morning dedicated to connection, sustainability, and local spirit.
From 7:30am to 11:30am, the quiet coastal suburb will transform into a walking trail of discovery, with locals selling pre-loved treasures, homewares, toys, plants, clothes, and more, all while fostering genuine connection between residents and visitors.
Led by local Swanbourne resident Bridget Robertson, the Swanbourne Community Garage Sale will see residents host their own garage sale at home, volunteer or simply explore the suburb on foot, picking up bargains, and enjoy coffee and breakfast from local Swanbourne vendors.
The initiative began as a simple idea: to bring Swanbourne together and showcase the heart of its community.
“This is more than just a garage sale,” Bridget said. “It’s about sustainability, connection, and celebrating who we are as neighbours. Swanbourne has such a strong sense of community, this event gives everyone a reason to come outside, meet one another, and rediscover what makes our suburb so special.”
“Our goal is to create an annual tradition, something Swanbourne families can look forward to year after year,” Bridget added.
“It’s grassroots, it’s positive, and it’s entirely community-led.”
The event’s long-term vision is to earn a permanent place on the City of Nedlands’ annual calendar of community events.
