♻️ FOGO Update for City of Nedlands Residents

Published on Wednesday, 14 October 2026 at 4:31:57 PM

Recent changes mean only three things belong in your FOGO bin:

✅ Food waste
✅ Garden waste
✅ Certified compostable bags (AS4736)

To help reduce contamination and improve the quality of compost produced, some items can no longer be placed in FOGO bins, including:
🚫 Compostable packaging
🚫 Pet waste
🚫 Paper towel
🚫 Shredded paper
🚫 Greasy and food-soiled pizza boxes
So where do these items go now?
🗑️ General Waste (red-lidded bin)
• Pet waste
• Compostable packaging and takeaway containers
• Paper towel and tissues
• Shredded paper
• Food-soiled pizza boxes
♻️ Recycling (yellow-lidded bin)
• Clean paper and cardboard
• Clean pizza boxes (with no food residue)
By placing the right materials in your FOGO bin, you're supporting a more sustainable waste system and helping turn organic waste into a valuable resource for parks, gardens and agriculture.
