Bulk Waste Notice

Published on Thursday, 15 October 2026 at 11:17:13 AM

The City understands many residents are concerned about the delay to the 2026/27 bulk waste verge collection program and appreciates the community's patience while arrangements are finalised.

The delay has occurred following changes to the City's existing bulk waste collection contract. While the City had anticipated the contract would continue for a further year, a review of the contract arrangements and associated costs identified the need to undertake a new procurement process to ensure the City continues to receive value for money and a sustainable service for residents.

As required under the Local Government Act and the City's Procurement Policy, the City has undertaken a formal Request for Tender process to appoint a new contractor to deliver future verge collections. The tender evaluation process has now been completed, and a recommendation will be presented to Council for consideration.

Subject to Council approval and contract execution, the City is currently exploring opportunities for collections to commence as early as possible. While collections were originally anticipated to occur in late 2026, residents should currently expect the program to commence in early 2027. If an earlier commencement date becomes available, the City will advise the community as soon as possible.

The City acknowledges the inconvenience this delay may cause and is working to provide residents with further information, including collection dates and available disposal options as soon as these details are confirmed.

Further updates will be published on the City's website and communication channels.
