Bridging the Bush to Beach – Celebrating 30 Years of Continuous Bush Care

Join Melon Hill Bushland Group for a special community event recognising three decades of dedicated bush care in the Allen Park precinct.

📍Where: Heritage Precinct – Allen Park

Event Program

9.45am – Arrival for a 10am start

10.00am – Welcome and introductions at the Meeting Place (outside Tom Fricker Cottage)

10.15am – Guided walk with Lesley Shaw (trail includes sections of the Whadjuk Bush to Beach network and two ascents of Melon Hill)

11.30am – Refreshments outside Tom Collins House

Representatives from the Fellowship of Australian Writers WA will join us, with Jenni Allen sharing stories of John Allen. 

12.00pm – Event concludes

Useful Information

  • Please wear comfortable clothing and closed shoes.

  • A moderate level of fitness is required if you wish to climb Melon Hill.

  • Toilets are available at the start and finish locations, and again at Swanbourne Beach.

Parking & Meeting Point

Parking is available in the main car park. Please meet outside Tom Fricker Cottage, opposite Tom Collins House. Volunteers will be on hand to assist with directions.

Guided Walk Route

The walk will follow various sections of the trail network, including parts of the Whadjuk Bush to Beach trail. Red indicates ascent; blue indicates descent.
