Candidates announced for 2023 election

Nominations closed 4.00pm Thursday 7 September 2023 for candidates for the 2023 local government elections, which will take place on 21 October 2023. 

The Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) conducted the ballot draw at City of Nedlands Council Chambers to determine the order of candidates for each of the vacant positions. 

At the close of nominations, the WAEC received three nominations for Mayor, presented below in the order they will be shown on the ballot:

HODSDON, Benedict

YOUNGMAN, Noel

ARGYLE, Fiona

At the close of nominations, the WAEC received two nominations for the Melvista Ward, presented below in the order they will be shown on the ballot:

SENATHIRAJAH, Rajah

COGHLAN, Rebecca

At the close of nominations, the WAEC received three nominations for the Hollywood Ward, presented below in the order they will be shown on the ballot:

POLLARD, Melanie

WEST, Allana

MCMANUS, Leo

At the close of nominations, the WAEC received one nomination for the Dalkeith Ward, presented below:

BENNETT, Fergus

The City of Nedlands extends its congratulations to Councillor Fergus Bennett for his re-election to the Dalkeith Ward for a four year term.

The City of Nedlands recognises Councillors retiring or not renominating, and thanks them for their service to the community, including:

Dalkeith Ward - Andrew Mangano
Hollywood Ward - Olinka Combes

The Returning Officer accepted nominations for the following positions:

  • District: one position vacant, term expiring October 2027
  • Melvista Ward: one position vacant, term expiring October 2027
  • Hollywood Ward: one position vacant, term expiring October 2025
  • Dalkeith Ward: one position vacant, term expiring October 2027
