City moves towards significant tree protection

City of Nedlands Mayor Fiona Argyle last night signed Amendment 12 of Local Planning Scheme No 3 which brings the City a step closer to protecting significant trees on private property. The Amendment is now off to the WA Planning Commission for approval to advertise.

The Amendment, initiated by Council on 28 June 2022, proposes that a development application will need to be lodged for permission to remove trees meeting a certain criteria on residential-zoned lots coded R20 or lower.

Once WAPC approval to advertise has been received, the City will be conducting extensive public consultation on the Amendment.
