Fire damage at Shenton Bushland

The south-east section of Shenton Bushland was burnt in an unplanned bush fire on Friday the 5 May.

The City has closed the area for safety reasons whilst City staff organise a safety assessment of the trees and asbestos through the burnt site. The community are requested to avoid the area and use alternative access routes through the bushland until the area is deemed safe to re-enter.

The north-eastern section of Shenton Bushland that was burnt in the unplanned bush fire on the 26 February also continues to remain closed for safety reasons whilst asbestos is being cleaned up within the burn site.  The community are also requested to continue to avoid this section of the bushland and use alternative access routes along Lemnos Street.

The City will continue to work with DFES and Western Australia Police to investigate the incidents. The cause of the fires are unknown and people are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
