The City of Nedlands will be undertaking repair works to the retaining wall and car park at Lawler Park, 8 Draper Street, Floreat, to maintain the safety and functionality of the site for park users and visitors.
The works will be carried out by Programmed and are scheduled to commence on Monday, 21 September 2026, with completion anticipated by Wednesday, 21 October 2026, subject to weather and site conditions.
Construction activities will take place between 7.00am and 3.00pm, Monday to Friday. Residents and visitors may notice increased construction vehicle movements and noise during these hours.
To allow the works to proceed safely, the Lawler Park car park will be closed during construction hours from Monday, 21 September until Wednesday, 7 October 2026.
Temporary fencing will be installed around work areas to protect public safety and support construction activities, including plant operation, vehicle movements and material handling.
Where it is safe to do so, the majority of the car park will remain available for public use outside construction hours and on weekends. From approximately 7 October 2026, sections of the car park are expected to reopen, with temporary fencing remaining around active work areas while repairs to the retaining wall and associated works are completed.
To assist the contractor in commencing works safely each morning, residents and visitors are asked not to leave vehicles in the car park overnight from Sunday, 20 September 2026, unless otherwise advised by signage on site.
Alternative parking will be available within the surrounding street network for those accessing Lawler Park and nearby public facilities during the construction period.
