The City of Nedlands would like to thank everyone who participated in the Local Planning Strategy review throughout 2026.
Over recent months, community members have contributed through information sessions, the Community Sentiment Survey and a series of interactive workshops, helping to identify local priorities, opportunities and challenges that should shape the future of the City.
The valuable feedback received from residents, businesses, landowners and other stakeholders will now help inform the preparation of a revised draft Local Planning Strategy.
The Local Planning Strategy will establish a long-term vision and strategic framework to guide future land use, development and growth across the City of Nedlands. It will also help ensure local planning decisions align with community expectations, State planning requirements and the City's long-term objectives.
What happens next?
With the community engagement phase now complete, the City and its appointed consultant CDP Town Planning and Urban Design, will review the feedback received and prepare a revised draft Local Planning Strategy.
Once drafted, the Strategy will be considered by Council for endorsement before being submitted to the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) for approval to commence formal public advertising. This is anticipated to occur in early 2027.
Following Council endorsement and WAPC approval, the community will have a further opportunity to review the draft Strategy and provide feedback during a formal public consultation period.
The City appreciates the community's ongoing involvement in this important project and encourages interested stakeholders to stay connected through this Your Voice page for future updates.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. Your feedback is helping shape the future planning direction of the City of Nedlands.
