The City is aware of a range of concerns that have been raised by residents in Montario Quarter and appreciates the community's ongoing feedback. As this precinct continues to develop and evolve, we are working closely with relevant stakeholders to address current challenges and identify practical, long-term solutions.
Drainage and flooding
The City continues to work with DevelopmentWA and other project stakeholders to better understand and address drainage performance within the precinct, including areas that have experienced flooding during significant rainfall events.
To support this work, additional technical information relating to the drainage network is being reviewed to help inform future planning and any potential improvement opportunities. The City will continue advocating for effective and sustainable solutions that improve drainage outcomes for residents.
Maintaining a high-amenity precinct
Montario Quarter includes a range of landscaped areas, public spaces and complex infrastructure that require ongoing maintenance to keep them functioning and looking their best.
The City regularly reviews maintenance requirements across the precinct and continues to assess priorities for future investment. This helps ensure resources are directed where they will have the greatest benefit for residents and the long-term care of the area. The City has included high-level estimates in the Long Term Financial Plan (subject to Council approval) to guide future investment for this area.
Service delivery and maintenance
The City monitors the performance of maintenance contractors to help ensure services are delivered to the required standard.
Where improvements are identified, the City works with service providers to address issues and improve outcomes. Ongoing monitoring and review processes help support the delivery of maintenance services across the precinct.
Damage to public infrastructure
As development continues within Montario Quarter, some public infrastructure such as kerbing and landscaping areas may be affected by nearby construction activity.
In most instances, permanent repairs or upgrades are best undertaken once surrounding development has progressed further. This approach helps ensure works are completed efficiently and provide a lasting and financially responsible outcome for the community.
The City continues to monitor the condition of public infrastructure; however residents may report instances of damage by submitting a report through our website.
Vandalism and community safety
The City is aware of occasional incidents of vandalism and anti-social behaviour within the precinct and understands the impact these issues can have on residents. We continue to work with WA Police and other local stakeholders to support community safety.
The City will explore opportunities to reduce vandalism and anti-social behaviour through new safety infrastructure, community education and environmental design improvements (subject to future budget priorities). Residents who observe vandalism or anti-social behaviour are encouraged to contact WA Police on 131 444 so the matter can be investigated.

The City remains committed to working collaboratively with residents, DevelopmentWA and other stakeholders to support the ongoing development of Montario Quarter.
