The City of Nedlands welcomes the State Government’s decision to provide a free CAT bus service from the CBD to Nedland’s medical precinct including Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Perth Children’s Hospital, and UWA.
Mayor Fiona Argyle says the new service has the potential to alleviate traffic and parking issues in and around these areas.
“Traffic congestion and a shortage of affordable parking options has long been a problem for residents, workers and visitors to the medical precinct in our Hollywood ward,” Mayor Argyle said.
“Having the purple CAT bus linking with metropolitan trains will allow workers in these precincts and university students who live in outer suburbs, to leave their cars at home and catch public transport to work – door to door,” Mayor Argyle said.
“Having a CAT bus from the CBD may also be instrumental in bringing tourists and others into the City of Nedlands’ business area to support local cafes, restaurants and small businesses.”
