November FOGO Launch for the City of Nedlands

On Monday 24 October 2022, the City of Nedlands will begin its transition to the Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) Waste Service. FOGO is a WA State Government initiative which will see all Perth and Peel local governments roll out the three-bin system by 2025.

In the first two weeks of the transition, residents will have their general waste bin lid changed for a red lid to align with the State Government’s Better Bin Plus Guidelines. 8,300 kitchen caddies will also be delivered to households to assist residents with sorting their FOGO waste.

Commencement of the FOGO service will begin on Monday 7 November 2022.

This will assist the City of Nedlands in helping the State Government reach its 65 per cent waste recovery target and have a positive and lasting impact on the environment.

The City will be undertaking a widespread FOGO Education Campaign throughout the community to ensure residents are prepared for the new service. Four community education sessions will be held across October and November 2022, as well as event activations at the local Mt Claremont Farmers Market.

Her Worship, Mayor Fiona Argyle, was excited to launch the FOGO campaign this month, as promotional materials rolled out across the City.

“I am so excited to see the City embrace this change, as it’s so important for our long term sustainability.”

“I look forward to speaking with residents at our upcoming Mt Claremont Farmers Market activation where we can help educate people on FOGO.”
