Over 35 Year 6 students from Dalkeith Primary School rolled up their sleeves and made a real difference to their local environment during Schools Clean Up Day at Birdwood Parade Reserve on Friday 13 March.
Supported by dedicated staff and parents, the young environmental champions got hands-on - collecting five bags of general waste and six bags of recycling, removing an estimated 6 kg of recyclable material and helping keep it out of nearby waterways and away from landfill. The students proved that even small actions can have a big impact.
But this event was about more than just picking up litter. It gave students the opportunity to understand the real impact waste has on local ecosystems, and to develop a sense of environmental responsibility and leadership that will carry well beyond the school yard.
This Clean Up Day also marks another milestone in the City of Nedlands' partnership of more than 15 years with Clean Up Australia - a relationship built on a shared commitment to a cleaner, healthier community.
The City looks forward to extending invitations to other local schools to take part in similar programs throughout the coming year.
A huge thank you to the entire Dalkeith Primary School community (students, staff, and parents) for your enthusiasm, energy, and commitment to keeping our City clean and beautiful. 🌿
