Over the past few weeks, we have been notified of delays with our contractors in reinstating the shade sails across various parks. We understand the frustration this may cause for our community, especially with the current heatwave this week.
We want to assure you that we have been working to address this issue. The shade sails have been booked for installation since October, however, due to unforeseen challenges and heightened demand, we find ourselves competing with numerous other councils for installation slots. As a result, the current estimated install dates fall into late November and early December.
This delay is unfortunately beyond our control, despite our awareness of the urgent need for shaded areas in our parks. Typically, shade sails are scheduled for installation in early November based on regular weather conditions. However, this season has presented challenges in terms of predictability. Installing the shade sails too early poses the risk of damage, and we want to ensure that they are in optimal condition to provide shade during the peak of summer.
