Weed control notice: Hardscapes in Road Reserves
The City of Nedlands advises residents that in August and September 2023, weed control activities are scheduled to take place on Hardscapes in Road Reserves across the City. To effectively manage weed growth, licensed contractors will apply a herbicide treatment to road kerbs, traffic islands, footpaths, and shared use paths. This application aims to eradicate both annual and perennial weeds and grasses.
Important information and safety measures
Please note that the exact dates for the application activities are subject to weather conditions and may vary accordingly. During the application, appropriate signage, in compliance with the Health (Pesticides) Regulations 2011, will be prominently displayed on the contractor's vehicles. The treatment process will be conducted by licensed contractors, and City officers will closely monitor operations, adhering to safety guidelines for your protection.
Herbicide product and compliance
The product used for weed control contains a non-selective herbicide, Glyphosate, which will be applied following the product label instructions, as mandated by state and federal legislation. We assure you that our practices align with regulatory requirements to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Resident exemptions: Do Not Spray Register
As a precautionary measure, we will not carry out weed control activities adjacent to properties where residents have registered to be included on the City's Do Not Spray Register. Your concerns and preferences are valued, and we strive to respect your wishes.
