City of Nedlands Council Update

The City of Nedlands confirms that four Councillors formally resigned from their positions on Monday 7 July 2025. We acknowledge their service to the community and thank them for their past contributions.

As a result of these resignations, the Council currently comprises the Mayor and three Councillors.

We will be working closely with the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the Minister for Local Government to determine the appropriate next steps. The remaining Councillors (Smyth, Brackenridge, and Coghlan) and the Mayor are committed to continuing to represent the community.

The City’s Administration is committed to maintaining essential services and supporting the community.

The next WA local government elections will be held on Saturday 18 October 2025.
