Following a Council Resolution of 14 December 2021, the City has now completed its recruitment process for new Directors of Corporate and Strategy, and Planning and Development.
The successful candidates are Mr Michael Cole, who will commence on 14 March 2022 as Director of Corporate and Strategy, and Mr Tony Free who has been Interim Director Planning and Development since early 2021.
Michael Cole has an outstanding reputation in the local government sector, most recently as Chief Financial Officer at the Town of Victoria Park. Prior to this, he was Executive Director of Corporate Services at the City of Albany (2016-2019).
City of Nedlands CEO, Bill Parker, thanked Tony Free for his outstanding leadership of the City’s planning and development teams and welcomed his appointment to the permanent position.
The City also acknowledges the efforts of the former Director Corporate and Strategy Mr Ed Herne who joined the City in January 2021, in a temporary capacity.
“During his tenure, Ed’s experience, dedication and commitment has helped the City navigate a new Governance Framework, long term Financial Plans, Asset Management Plans and a new Workforce Plan,” Mr Parker said.
“By filling these two key appointments, we are looking forward to enjoying stability and certainty as we forge ahead into 2022,” Mr Parker said.
