Councillor Oliver Basson has resigned from the City of Nedlands Council, effective immediately.

Mr Basson has informed the Chief Executive Officer that he is relocating and will no longer be an elector of the district.

“It is with great sadness that I have had to vacate my position before the end of my term as Councillor for the Hollywood Ward," Mr Basson said.

“It’s been a pleasure working alongside the Chief Executive Officer, executive staff, Mayor Argyle and fellow Elected Members.

“Having been a Nedlands resident for the past 25 years, I now look forward to starting my next chapter with my wife and future family.”

The City thanks Mr Basson for his service to our community and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours.

Mr Basson was elected as a Hollywood Ward councillor in 2022. His term would have ended in October 2023.

Council may, with the approval of the Electoral Commissioner, allow the vacancy to remain unfilled.

This may be appropriate given the proximity to the October election and expected reduction in elected member representation.
