A shout-out to dog-lovers working at the City of Nedlands has resulted in bags of donated blankets, towels, bedding, sheets, leads and collars being delivered to the Shenton Park Dogs Refuge by Nedlands Ranger Amanda Rafeek and Ranger Administration Officer Erika Brown.
The generous gifts also included a quantity of artificial turf, for dogs that would rather not pee on hard surfaces.
Amanda and Erika are new recruits to the City but have settled in well. On the first day of her new job, Amanda managed to find a lost dog before the owners even realised the dog was missing.
“It was just one of those funny situations,” Erika said.
“We got a call from one of our local primary schools to say there was a friendly dog wandering around the school.
“While we were in the process of picking up the dog and scanning it for a microchip, residents from a nearby house came to see what was going on, only to discover the dog in question was actually their dog.”
Although Amanda is new to the role of Ranger, she is a dog-lover with experience handling cats, dogs and other domestic animals.
